Abstract

POGGIESE, Diego. La cárcel de la mente de H.A.Murena: fragmentos de una escritura en retirada. Cuad.Sur, Let. [online]. 2003, n.32-33, pp. 111-133. ISSN 2362-2970.

The Prison of Mind, by Héctor álvarez Murena, is a special reissue of some of the texts the author considers essential in his work. The compilation centers on the intention to build what he calls an intellectual autobiography, and to carry on that project he arranges a series of essays chronologically and prologues them with short writings he calls excursus. These excursus not only build up a text, but also complement those essays and construct a unique thought development. He presents this development from a comfortable state of submission imposed externally and internally to the abandonment of a liberated mind which is conscious of its precariousness, but in which the consciousness of knowledge can be produced effectively. In this book, the autobiography is (mainly) an examination of the possibilities and the significance of the essay itself.

Keywords : Essay; Murena; Intellectual autobiography.
