Resumen

PASTORMERLO, Sergio. Juan Moreira, de Eduardo Moreira. Política y mercado en la literatura argentina de 1880. Cuad.Sur, Let. [online]. 2003, n.32-33, pp. 185-193. ISSN 2362-2970.

Juan Moreira, as the other novels written by Eduardo Gutiérrez, belong to that period in the history of Argentine literature in which the effects of the first enlargement of the reader public began to be noticeable. On the other hand, the novel is placed just after the end of classic gauchesca poetry. In this way, Juan Moreira represent a key text to examine the changes in the relations between literature and politics around 1880, with the incipient modernization of literature field. Diversion and derivation of Martín Fierro, Gutiérrez's novel allows to make meaningful confrontations with the "gauchipolítico" genre in order to see how the indifference between literature and politics typical of gauchesca poetry became a politically indifferent literature.
