GASPARINI, Sandra. Poetas visionarios y científicos poetas: el ensueño en algunas ficciones de E. L. Holmberg. Cuad.Sur, Let. [online]. 2003, n.32-33, pp. 195-206. ISSN 2362-2970.

During the second half of the nineteeth century, the Argentine literature is enriched by the publication of fantastic stories in which the social process and debates that other genres do not dare to discuss arise. When the epistemological paradigm was destroyed by spreading the positivist and evolutionary ideas, the fantastic literature which had excited the German, British and French readers so much is able to stablish within the cultural Argentine enviroment the posibility of reading the novelty of the modern world with other patterns. Some publications by Eduardo L. Holmberg, such as "Filigranas de cera" (1884), among others, involve the reverie within other topics and procedures. This typical Romantic genre constitutes a complex mechanism with an appropriate language for the liberation of the irrational which, tinged with the scientific knowledge that was going around, suggests an area of contact between deductive reasoning and poetic creation. The article will take into account, among other questions, the discursive strategies that trigger his appearence in the fantastic fiction of this author with a view to including the reverie as a new hypothesis on reality.
