MINELLI, María Alejandra. Cortado al bies, un borde de brocato. Cuad.Sur, Let. [online]. 2004, n.34, pp. 51-70. ISSN 2362-2970.

Beginning in the 1980's, there appeared in Argentina a literary constellation called "Neo-Baroque" or "Neo-Bemired". Néstor Perlongher, redefines the contemporary Baroque pointing out that it is the product of a certain breaking down of Realism, parallel to the wearing away of reality in "Magical Realism," and "Marvelous Reality (Perlongher, 1997: 99). Perlongher also highlights universal "kitsch" as another of the components of this plebian form of the Baroque. The unusual aspect of this emergence of "tropical excess" in the measured Río de la Plata does not hesitate to accentuate its subterfuge of conceit through the transmutation of Baroque splendor into a "poética del enchastre" (poetic of the murky) (Echavarren, 1996:116), constituting what Perlongher calls the "neobarroso" (Neo-Bemired). In general terms, one can say that the writing of Néstor Perlongher deviates from the mainstreamliterary tradition and calls attention to the very code creating a flow of signifiersthat progresses by the contamination of sounds and the deviated recycling of Modernist preciousness. Upon this enunciative framework there is erected a representation that underlines corporeality and sexuality and models a poetic of the organic. This poetic deals with a politics of writings that revindicates the flowing of desire, the instability of identities and the erosion of the statute of poetry as the fetish of spirituality.
