Resumen

VITALE, María Alejandra. Guerra de lenguajes. Prensa escrita y política lingüística en la radiofonía argentina: el caso de 1943. Cuad.Sur, Let. [online]. 2005, n.35-36, pp. 53-74. ISSN 1668-7426.

The "Coup d' ètat" dated on June 4th 1943 implemented a linguistic policy for the national boundary which acted on the specific linguistic environment, the radio broadcasting. In a context in which it was necessary to control the internal and external migratory masses which put up with the danger of the class conflict, this policy was strongly repressive towards certain consolidated linguistic uses like for instance the "vos" use, because it was oriented to impose a peninsular norm. As from the Kremnitz's (2001) proposals, who considers that the linguistic policy is make concrete in the interaction of interests and opinions of certain groups which could assume different political-linguistic conceptions, in this article the roles interpreted by the written press published in the Capital Federal as a participant in a particular political-linguistic process are analyzed. In fact, this institution mainly played the "helper role" since it collaborated to create a public consensus in favour of the military action in the radio broadcasting, configurating a contrary position to the cosmopolitan, xenophobic and even anti-Semite. It also adopted an "advising role" (especially to avoid the excessive control based on the purism) and the "promoting role" (since it assumes its own political-linguistic impulses), rather than the minor role which was of the opponent.
