JOSTIC, Sonia. ¿Tradutore-tradittore? El intelectual y la memoria ficcional de la nación. Cuad.Sur, Let. [online]. 2007, n.37, pp. 171-197. ISSN 1668-7426.

Even admitting the visibility that "the ethnographic" novel (Sarlo) has acquired in the local literary map during the last years, the continuity of a narrative "of historical subject" is also remarkable -in its more or less commercial registry, according to the cases-, in which it is possible to detect certain tendency to construct imaginary of nation ("gastronomical", "geologic" and "archaeological", according to the classification of A. Smith). It is about proposals intervened by categories of subalternity (Guha) that usually appear linked to a figure of eventual residual working (Williams), that is to say: the one of the aborigines; and whose authors could be assigned the role of interpreters suggested by Z. Bauman when referring to the postmodern intellectuals. Nevertheless, despite the significantly vindicative willingness that this literary production offers, the application of an anthropological lens in the reading contributes to dismantle provocatively diverse aspects, that unfold in another direction to reveal the persistence and the effectiveness of 19th. Century heritage in which it is possible to identify both the intervention of racemarks (Briones) and the elaboration of archaic representations.
