In December, 1965 Sergio Camarda and Ricardo Piglia publish the first issue of the Literature and Society magazine. There, in the first section of the summary Piglia examines the traditional left-wing path (Communist Party and Socialist Party), going mainly through its links with the working class and the Peronism; he informs of the birth of the New Left, to which he claims to belong, and highlights the urge to propose a new role for the Left intellectual. In the second section, he determines the aims and the field of action of the intellectual in general and of the literary critic in particular and defines the concepts of culture and literature again. In the analysis of the role of the intellectual -such as it was conceived and practiced previously- as in the proposal of a new one the presence of Antonio Gramsci can be recognized.
