Abstract

MALLOL, Anahí. Encrucijadas entre poesía y política (en Seamus Heaney y los poetas argentinos de los 90). Cuad.Sur, Let. [online]. 2007, n.37, pp. 291-322. ISSN 1668-7426.

Throughout the XX century the question about the relation of poetry to the sociopolitical context has been posited once and again every time the devalued social function of art has been critically and pointedly confronted by the acuteness of social violence. In his essays Seamus Heaney expounds a particular category to think the relationship of poetry to the author's intention and lived context, and the sociopolitical context of reading: psychopolitics, a category in which the political is bonded, very much like any other ordinary element, with everyone's quotidian and cultural experience, scenery and history. This category serves as the touchstone with which to read the shared preoccupations of various poets of the so called poetry of the 90's. Within this framework surfaces a poetry which redeems the voice of the people and an experience which surpasses the nooks and crannies of individualism to build a space which is always a space of hesitancy, of questioning, a space in which the poetic voice gets close to the testimonial type of register in specific ways.

Keywords : Poetry; Heaney; Argentine poetry.
