The apparatus of political humour is a privileged field for the study of ideology, as being his referent not an event but the point of view of the media about this event; it is easier to see on it the ideological operations that constitute it. From this perspective we will discuss the television programme "La Argentina de Tato"; a run appealing to nostalgia through presuppositions, ideological precepts and places of memory of a dying television, replaced for a non-programmatic model of the TV; represented at these days by the "for a dream" shows (like "Bailando por un sueño"; argentinian version of "Dancing With the Stars"). In the article we expose how the Tato's show belonged to the beginning of a third stage of the television history and how it constructs the discursive object "Argentina" -whose traits and characters remain beyond time and therefore are strongly essentialist- by the assembling and selection of fragments of previous shows.
