Resumen

ESQUISABEL, Oscar M.. Lenguaje, acontecimiento y ser: la metafísica del lenguaje de H.-G. Gadamer. Cuad. Sur, Filos. [online]. 2001, n.31-32, pp. 65-89. ISSN 2362-2989.

According to Gadamer, language has always been the guiding principle in developing the hermeneutic ontology implicit in the processes of comprehending and interpreting. Thus, language acquires a metaphysical dimension that transcend the domain of pure linguistic phenomena. This paper outlines how, in the field of hermeneutical philosophy, language rises to that dimension from considerations of a linguistic nature. The discussion will comprise three parts: the first one will focus on the difference between the sign and the word, the second part will deal with the performative character of the word and the third one will look into the speculative nature of language. At the same time, mention is made of the risks faced when a hermeneutical view of language is adopted.
