PALMA, Alejandra Gabriela. Las concepciones del lenguaje en Gadamer y Habermas: Intersecciones y diferencias hacia posibles aportes para un análisis crítico del discurso. Cuad. Sur, Filos. [online]. 2011, n.40, pp. 133-152. ISSN 2362-2989.

This article constitutes an approximation to philosophical hermeneutics from the point of view of discourse analysis. Its purpose is to discover the possible contributions that Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics' notion of language can offer to the complex theoretical nucleus of critical discourse analysis. To that end we employed Hans-Georg Gadamer's observations on language in "Text and Interpretation" [1987], and Jürgen Habermas' coincidences, elaborations and critiques on Gadamer's conceptualizations, in particular in his book On the Logic of the Social Sciences [1967], and in his article "Knowledge and Human Interests" [1968]. To establish these connections, we will take into account Chouliaraki and Fairclough's review of Habermas' theory of communicative action, in their book Discourse in late modernity (2001), which places it amongst the recent critical theories of social life that particularly emphasize language. This analysis emphasizes the crucial importance of the concept of dialogue in both authors, and underlines appropriateness of the gadamerian notions of alterity and auto-reflection for the social theory of language put forth by critical discourse analysts.
