Resumen

VELARDE CANAZARES, Marcelo. Ansiedad de ser y finitud de existir en Carlos Astrada entre 1918 y 1943. Cuad. Sur, Filos. [online]. 2011, n.40, pp. 165-178. ISSN 2362-2989.

The author states and interprets the evolution of the Argentinian philosopher Carlos Astrada (1894-1970) on the question of temporality in his innermost and more metaphysical period, the less studied one up to the present time. First, the subject is placed in his cultural context and related to the challenge of being philosopher in Argentina at the time. Next, starting from the tensions of 1918 between the desire of eternity and the fleetingness of life, this paper shows Astrada's evolution in Temporalidad and other books of the same period towards the conciliation of those poles often assimilated to fiction and reality. Across moral aspiration, contemplation of beauty, criticism at the aim of objective values and ontological thirst of the poet, Astrada goes through a finitude's metaphysics close to Heidegger's one, for reaching a telluric conception of historicity where the antinomy between the impossibility of some eternal meaning and the meaningless of fleeting actions has been overcome. Finally, it is suggested that metaphysical concepts of El mito gaucho (1948), the essay where Astrada sets out his interpretation on argentinity, cannot be fully understood without this previous evolution.
