Resumen

HERNANDEZ, Graciela. De "china" a "muchacha" y "plan": Mujeres, producción, reproducción y políticas públicas en situaciones de pobreza y diversidad étnico/cultural. Cuad. Sur, Hist. [online]. 2005, n.34, pp. 221-250. ISSN 1668-7604.

We intend to take as the main idea to analyze the study of women's work characteristics in areas which are non-hegemonic from the point of view of gender, including productive as well as reproductive tasks and their interrelationships. We will emphasize the conditions of women who are excluded due to poverty and other conditions such as racial or ethnic prejudice. The empirical basis is a field work held in popular urban areas in Bahía Blanca, a city located in the interior of the country, with specific features such as high unemployment rate, complexity in the social plans granting and controlling policies and also migrations from Chile, the Southern provinces (Patagonia) and Bolivia in the last years. We start from a diachronic and interdisciplinary point of view which allows us to watch the changes and the continuity in female work with respect to male's and the historical processes. We will also point out the work of indian women and the populated areas in their original communities, as servants and in the social plans. We will mention the necessity of watching these processes including all their complexities and implications.

Palabras llave : Ethnicity; Gender; Public Policies.
