Resumen

DAVIO, Marisa. Una sola mano no aplaude: la participación de los sectores populares en Tucumán durante el proceso revolucionario. (1806-1820). Cuad. Sur, Hist. [online]. 2007, n.35-36, pp. 43-72. ISSN 2362-2997.

The following paper relates to current studies on revised political history and represents an attempt at the study of social actors that begin to emerge on the political scene of Tucumán, after the process of "militarization of society" on the River Plate and its areas of influence that came as a consequence of the English Invasions of 1806-1807. These actors, whose common trait lies in not belonging to the élites (ie.they do not share the condition of "vecino" - neighbor - and are thus excluded from certain political practices and duties), will increasingly get involved in the political life of the period through different channels of expression, including their participation in militias, and in the professional army, (monetary) contributions to the needs of the political cause and their presence in public celebrations. The paper focuses on the vision of the élites about the sectors under analysis, as well as the place they give to them inside both the political and social life of the time, and specifically regarding their participation on militias included in the "North Army".
