Abstract

HERRERO, Alejandro. República, democracia y estado federal: Una aproximación a la recepción de la cultura política francesa en el discurso juvenil de Juan Bautista Alberdi (1837-1838). Cuad. Sur, Hist. [online]. 2007, n.35-36, pp. 73-99. ISSN 2362-2997.

The purpose of this work is to study the reason why Alberdi, between 1837 and 1838, held that a democratic and federal republic was the adequate program to end with Rosas' despotism and also to insert the Argentine Confederation in the modern world. The focus chosen is the reception of ideas. In this way, I want to show that Alberdi was not a reproducer of political models of the French culture, since the American reality appeared to him in such a complex way that he had to use diverse responses, using concepts of clearly different ideological families and even opposed, to solve the tyranny problem.

Keywords : Republic; Democracy; Federalism.
