Abstract

OTERO, Delia del Pilar. El estudio de la historia de las relaciones internacionales: Etapas y problemas teóricos. Cuad. Sur, Hist. [online]. 2007, n.35-36, pp. 495-513. ISSN 2362-2997.

This paper traces the most significant stages in the development of the history of the international relations and their process of construction as an autonomous field in the study of history by incorporating new variables such as: economy, space units, population displacements, pressure groups, collective mentalities or the actions of ethnic groups, among others. It also explores some key issues in the building of the subject of study, taking especially into account the perspective of analysis, the pair concepts of nation-region versus borders-boundaries and the idea of system. To this respect, it is emphasized the historiographic production and the theoretical and methodological issues which refer to the bonds developed by Latin American countries.

Keywords : Historiography; International Relations; Latin America; Theory; Methodology.
