Punta Alta foundational date and its determination, gives us several readings which determine its importance as an identity fact. Knowing the foundational date allows us to find out the origins and privilege how the story is told and know the past. This knowledge chooses, justifies and perpetuates facts from a hegemonic segment of the society. History would act as a source of legitimacy from this society portion which can generate a speech and validate it. These foundational images of the origins are rethorical constructs, but completely necessary to build an image that society has of itself and its past. In that sense, the foundational date evidences that the town is born, from the beginning, in opposition to Bahia Blanca, like "the other". It gives a support to the idea of otherness with the neighbor city of Bahia Blanca and the identity feeling which is foreseen from the origins of community.
