Resumen

CUETO RUA, Santiago. HIJOS La Plata: Memorias tensionadas. Análisis de los relatos sobre el pasado reciente que elaboran los militantes de HIJOS. Cuad. Sur, Hist. [online]. 2008, n.37, pp. 85-106. ISSN 2362-2997.

This paper aims to show and analyses the way by which the members of H.I.J.O.S La Plata (a human right organisation formed by children of the victims of the State Terrorism in Argentina) have built their memories about the recent past. In particular, the paper is interested in the production of accounts about the State Terror of the last dictatorship (1976-1983) and the previous period of political radicalization. While the humanitarian memory, typical of human right organisations arising as defensive responses to the State Terror, focuses its demands on the human nature of the people whose rights were violated but omit their political affiliations; H.I.J.O.S' militant memory vindicates the political experience of their parents and intends to remember them not only as victims but also as political activists. Thus, the aim the paper is to enquire the tensions produced by the involvement of H.I.J.O.S in the human right movement and the goal to vindicate the revolutionary struggle of their parents.
