Urban land prices and market dynamics have an influence on the development of cities in their urban, economic and social dimension. This paper is intended to address certain aspects relevant to this issue, such as discontinuous urban expansion and social-spatial differentiation of growth. For this research paper, it was necessary to review theoretical and practical literature, and conduct fieldwork and interviews to key informants who provided their viewpoints and knowledge on the topic. Additionally, the prices of undeveloped urban land were analyzed as published in the local newspaper, and the availability of vacant lots was studied based on the 2000 aerial photography.
