DE SOUZA BRAGA, Fernanda  and  DA SILVA CAVALCANTE ALVES, Schirley Fátima N.. Humanistic geography and its relations with eco tourism. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2008, vol.17, n.1, pp. 105-124. ISSN 1852-4265.

The objective of this study was to determine through literature review the possibility to study ecotourism based on some of the assumptions and concepts worked for humanistic geography. It is also a contribution to planning and development of ecotourism through the possible application of concepts such as perception, landscape and place. It was concluded that it is necessary to consider the dynamics of the present world and to understand both the communities that receive the tourist as the very tourists themselves so that this relationship (community-tourist) is not seen as a one-way street. The need of furthering these studies is stated.

Keywords : Ecotourism; Humanistic Geography; Ambient Perception; Landscape; Place.
