Abstract

AVENI, Silvina Mariel  and  ARES, Sofía Estela. Geographic Accessibility To Health Systems And Quality Of Life: An Analysis Of The Municipality of General Pueyrredon. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2008, vol.17, n.1, pp. 255-284. ISSN 1852-4265.

The purpose of this article is to find the relationship between the geographical accessibility to public health services and population's quality of life in the Municipality of General Pueyrredon small localities (less than 10000 inhabitants). The geographical access would be an important factor influencing the quality of life due to the different possibilities/ opportunities of population's access to health services. The methodology is quantitative/ qualitative based on census data (2001) and the information was obtained from several interviews performed in Acantilados Neighbourhood and El Marquesado, 2007. The quantitative approach notices that population's geographical access to public health services has an indifferent territorial distribution in relation to the Quality of Life Index. However, the qualitative approach shows that people consider health as a dimension of quality of life and they include direct and indirect considerations on that matter in their answers.
