Resumen

FITTIPALDI, Rosa Á; MIRA, Silvia G.  y  ESPASA, Loreana C.. Student Mobility at higher education level in the context of contemporary migration: The experience in the Universidad Nacional del Sur. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.1, pp. 113-136. ISSN 1852-4265.

Nowadays, favored by programs and conventions accepted by higher education institutions, (HEIs) student mobility is growing rapidly at varying degrees in answer to the internationalization of information, knowledge and technology requirements for graduates in a framework advocating a regional vision of higher education. Within this context, research was conducted with the objective of assessing the integration of foreign students to the Argentine university system, taking the Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS) as a case study for 2000-2011 period. Apart from inquiring about the importance of Programs and Conventions in the up growing student mobility, the impact on personal expectations of those who take part in these educational processes has been assessed through quantitative techniques which drew different qualitative approaches to the study case. As preliminary outcome, our study has found that even though student mobility is growing in importance in relation to Latin American migration, this process is, in actual fact, insignificant compared to other regions like the European Union where academic mobility has become well established.
