Resumen

MOREA, Juan Pablo. Situación actual de la gestión de las áreas protegidas de la Argentina: Problemáticas actuales y tendencias futuras. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.1, pp. 57-75. ISSN 1852-4265.

In Argentina, the creation of the first national park was materialized in 1922. In the following years, the significant increase in the number of protected areas and rising interest of society in general, led the National Parks Administration (APN) authorities to develop a strategy to enhance their planning and management. However, in the present decade, several journals have shown that management and management effectiveness are still open issues. This paper proposed a comprehensive analysis of current management, identifying the main problems and topics for future government agenda. This involved a critical analysis of the literature along with surveys and field studies in protected areas of the country. A diagnosis of the current conservation unit management has been provided according to the results achieved and the information check against the experience in other countries. Thorough knowledge of these issues is of vital importance for tourism professionals. Therefore, research on this subject will contribute towards tourism development in consistency with the objectives of conservation.
