Resumen

ZAPPERI, Paula Andrea. Caracterización del escurrimiento urbano en la ciudad de Bahía Blanca. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.2, pp. 125-150. ISSN 1852-4265.

Urbanization involves significant changes in the hydrological functioning due to not only the soil sealing by paving but also the modifications in the topography, which implies a change in the flow of runoff. The objectives were to characterize the behavior of the surface runoff in the city of Bahía Blanca and determine the modifications produced in the natural drainage conditions. In order to establish the natural runoff lines, the contour lines were digitized as well as roads, railways and rainwater drainage networks. Profiles were developed using altimetric information from Google Earth software. The drainage network was overlapped with the land division and roads, and the reconfiguration of the runoff pattern was identified. It was also noted that the street laying involves an increase in number of channels that are activated by rains and form a larger volume of runoff. On the other hand, channels arranged perpendicularly to the drainage flow were identified. These channels represent micro reliefs which prevent drainage. Finally, different proposals for the management of surface runoff are presented.
