Abstract

SCHENKEL, Erica  and  PINASSI, Andrés. Patrimonios de la Humanidad: estrategia de la política turística en la Argentina. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.2, pp. 41-67. ISSN 1852-4265.

Heritagisation processes grew in importance in the last decades of the 20th century. Consequently, they have become key elements of tourism policy, as in the case of World Heritage Sites. The Republic of Argentina does not remain aloof from these processes. The aim of this paper is to analyze the processes of identification of a World Heritage Site, and the cultural expressions of those sites that are part of the national identity in the context of Latin America. This research identifies possible sources of power involved, the binding provisions at institutional level, the contextualization, the interests at stake and the policy output.

Keywords : World Heritage; UNESCO; Tourism Policy; Latin America; Argentina.
