The emerging environmental problems and conflicts in urban spaces are not only an expression of the contradictory uses of the territory, but also they can turn into interesting analytical categories when trying to understand the dynamics of the process of construction of the territory. This work presents partial conclusions of the identification of environmental problems and/or conflicts in Rio Cuarto and their analysis in relation to the ways of using the territory. The interpretation of this context will give way to reflection upon the situation of the area of study and the dialectic movement that characterizes and defines its existence. Therefore, the information gathered from newspapers, empirical observations and previous reports was analyzed. According to the results of the 1997-2013 period, Río Cuarto city shows a complex array of environmental problems and conflicts that respond to a growing multidimensional urban space with social heterogeneous actors. This situation derives from the density of the determinant vectors of the period, which bring about the installation of certain technical systems and the intensification of finance capital in both, the built environment and the urban market.
