BUZAI, Gustavo D.. La Geografía como ciencia espacial: Bases conceptuales de la investigación astronómica vigentes en la Geografía Cuantitativa. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2016, vol.25, n.1, pp. 11-30. ISSN 1852-4265.
Geography as spatial science finds its conceptual foundations in the scientific research that developed during the fifteenth-century scientific revolution. Astronomy provides an approach to reality which is kept for centuries. During the 1960s, based in Kepler's laws, it generates the bases for Geography to outline a systemic definition supported by quantification. This paper aims to analyze scientific conceptual basis that, through the use of Geographical Information System (GIS) technology, still show validity. Therefore, we discuss the role of observation, generalization, simplicity and systemic approaches that support a systemic materialism in the current Quantitative Geography.
