Resumen

SILVEIRA, María Laura. Constitución de los circuitos de la economía urbana en la globalización. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2016, vol.25, n.2, pp. 79-102. ISSN 1852-4265.

This article discusses some events of globalization and their appearance in the territory and urban economy. Our argument is based on theoretical contributions of several authors and on our own research in Latin America. In the analysis of events having an impact on cities at global and national scale, we studied those related to technical phenomena, consumption, holdings, government policies, migration, organization, financial system, inflation, revitalization plans of urban centres and creation of clusters. From this context, we approach the new relationship between circuits of urban economy, i.e., how actors and activities with different degrees of capital, technology and organization establish links of complementarity, competition and dependence in the production and consumption in the constructed environment. Next, we discuss about the new forms and places of capital integration of economic circuits along the urban network during the globalization period. Finally, we present brief considerations on the theoretical and political challenges of the study and the reorganization of territory and cities.
