The district of Patagones, located in the Southern end of the Province of Buenos Aires has been under the constant influence of various public policies. Regulatory legal frameworks, conceptual approaches, intervention methodologies, tools, techniques and instruments for implementing them have been conditioned by agencies and institutions of national and international order. n turn, due to its interregional position, the district has been subject to different national and provincial policies. The aim of this paper is to analyse the institutions and public policies with direct action in rural areas in Patagones district and determine if their development was promoted. Therefore, plans, programs and projects implemented in the district from in 2000-2014 period were described, listed and analysed. It was concluded that in spite of various plans and programs implemented in rural areas, their effect has not yet represented real development. In addition, there is weakness, lack of coordination and insufficient institutional coordination.
