AQUINO, Gustavo Amílcar. La migración paraguaya en la ciudad de Formosa: Características sociodemográficas del proceso histórico-territorial y vinculación fronteriza reciente. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.1, pp. 119-142. ISSN 1852-4265.

Human migrations are processes based on social contradictions that go beyond the agricultural or urban areas. Nevertheless, they lead to the transformation of those areas due to the redistribution of the population. If Paraguayan border migration to Argentina is analyzed within the framework of a regional migratory subsystem, a persistent geographical-historical link is observed and its redistribution will involve the passage from a border-regional anchor pattern (Northeast Argentina) to a major metropolitan - regional one in the external migratory order both border and extra-borderline. Paraguayan immigration in the Northeast stopped early in the provinces of Corrientes and Chaco, except in Misiones and Formosa and their capital cities. Through these socio-territorial facts, theoretical questions on the migratory characteristics of the Paraguayan population arise. For this same reason, the objective of this work was to analyze the migratory dynamics towards the City of Formosa in the period 1895-2010 and its adjustment at a regional level. Official censuses and technical innovation of the Complementary Surveys for International Migrations were used. The results confirm a historical cessation of the migratory current towards the City of Formosa and represent a series of contributions for the socio-territorial analysis in the region.
