Abstract

OLIVARES, Barlin Orlando et al. Zonificación agroclimática del cultivo de maíz para la sostenibilidad de la producción agrícola en Carabobo, Venezuela. Rev. Univ. geogr. [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.2, pp. 135-156. ISSN 1852-4265.

The zoning represents a tool that allows to manage the territory through the sustained use of resources. Therefore, the objective of this research was to define the climatic zones suitable for the cultivation of corn in the state of Carabobo, Venezuela, contributing to the sustainability of the agricultural production of this entity. This research was carried out considering three aspects: the soil and climate conditions of the area, relief types and crop water requirements, which showed soil moisture behavior, according to the crop water balance. These three aspects were analyzed separately and then integrated to determine the spatial zoning of corn at optimal sowing dates. The results establish an area of 590 km2
