Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that causes more deaths worldwide than any other infectious disease. The international standard for tuberculosis control is the World Health Organization's DOT (Direct Observation of Therapy) strategy aimed at reducing the transmission of the infection through prompt diagnosis and effective treatment. The treatment is based on the strict supervision of medicines intake. This is made possible thanks to the availability of an information system that records patient data. These data can be used at a health post level to monitor treatment outcomes, at a district level to identify local problems as they arise, and at a provincial or national level to ensure consistent high-quality tuberculosis control across geographical areas (World Health Organization, 2007b). In Argentina, the Ministry of Health has been gathering DOTS data since 1996. Data analysis is vital for decision making. In this work, we provide a complete description of a data warehouse and reporting tools for decision support related to tuberculosis treatment.
