Abstract

DE FREITAS, Henrique M R et al. Processo de tomada de decisão instantânea e o papel da intuição. Escr. Contab. Adm. [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.1, pp. 13-41. ISSN 1853-2055.

The study of decision making comprises several aspects of different areas of knowledge, which show the impossibility of understanding the decision-making process only as something structured. When being under pressure and lacking information, an individual is forced to rely on other tools such as intuition. The purpose of this article is to provide tools for understanding intuition in instantaneous decision-making. Using a qualitative and exploratory approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with leaders of eight software companies in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The results show that intuition plays a major role in instantaneous decision-making, acting like a flag. In spite of being a resource for decision-making, it has not yet been recognized as such compared to other resources involved in the process. Intuition is a skill strongly linked to previous experiences and perceived through physical sensations.
