The main objective/purpose of this paper is to present the evolution of strategic thought that, has affected the prevalent premises on which firm's conceptualisation has been traditionally based. These premises have been subjected to scrutinizing that finally led firms towards introspection, since they become aware that only through the acquisition of distinctive competencies, they can be competitive at present times, according to Resource- based Theory.
