This study analyzes the relationship between health and wages in Argentina by exploring the impact that individuals' health has on their work productivity. The paper focuses on mental health as a critical productivity issue. The study uses a sample of 42,894 observations from the ECV-2001 survey and establishes a correlation between health and income, as well as the consequences of omitting a number of health variables. As predicted by the theory, the study found Mincer's traditional effects. When health variables were included, the impact on the education coefficient declined. The level of wages decreased due to illness and self prescription. When psychiatric and medical intervention occurred, wages declined. Improving data and research would optimize the performance of mental health policies.
